I was a long-time owner of a residential cleaning service that wasn’t franchised.
Many of my customers also owned commercial businesses, and I began looking for a natural tie-in that would allow me to expand into the commercial side of the industry. That search eventually led me to Stratus Building Solutions.

What was the deciding factor in choosing Stratus over other opportunities?

I visited and spoke with several Master Franchise owners and interviewed with other franchisors before making my decision. What stood out with Stratus was the overall strength of the opportunity and the sophistication of the processes. I believed Stratus offered better systems, better support, and a stronger long-term path to growth.

What’s a standout success or milestone you’ve achieved since becoming an owner?

About three years ago, I bought out my former partner, and since then we’ve almost tripled our recurring billings. That growth has been extremely rewarding and proof that sticking to the Stratus model produces real results.

How has Stratus shaped your professional growth or personal outlook?

Stratus has paved the way for a more comfortable retirement and, just as importantly, created the option to pass the torch to my sons. It’s given me both financial stability and a succession plan — two things every business owner hopes to achieve.

What’s one lesson you’ve learned on this journey that you wish you knew earlier?

Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Follow the Stratus process to the letter and everything else will take care of itself. The system works — you just have to trust it.

In your opinion, what makes Stratus different from other franchise systems?

The willingness of all the other Masters to help one another, regardless of size or tenure. You can always count on someone in this network to share information or insights that contribute to everyone’s success. That spirit of collaboration truly sets Stratus apart.

What qualities do you look for when bringing new franchisees into your team?

Ambition, an eagerness to keep learning the best ways to grow their business, and an understanding that they’re buying a business, not just a job. Those who embrace that mindset tend to excel.

Who or what has been the biggest source of inspiration in your business journey?

My family has always been my primary source of inspiration. I’m also motivated by watching our Unit Franchisees succeed — seeing some grow from just $1,000 a month in revenue to thriving businesses bringing in $20,000 or more each month. Their success stories never get old.

What would you say to someone who’s on the fence about becoming a Master Franchisee?

Reach out to other Masters — both new and experienced — and pick their brains about their journeys with Stratus. Hearing firsthand how they’ve built their businesses will give you a clear and honest picture of what’s possible.
