Spotlight on a Franchisee

Pooya Boniello

Stratus Building Solutions
Master Franchise – Reno, NV

My background spans facility management, construction, and real estate finance, which gave me a strong foundation in both operational leadership and financial strategy.
Over the years, I developed a deep understanding of how to manage complex projects, control costs, and deliver quality results — all skills that are critical in running a successful business.

Franchising appealed to me because it combined my desire for business ownership with the support and proven systems of an established brand. It was a natural next step that allowed me to leverage my experience, take on new challenges, and build something sustainable. The structure of franchising provided the perfect balance between autonomy and guidance, making it an ideal path for me.

What was the deciding factor in choosing Stratus over other opportunities?

The deciding factor for me was the people. From my very first interactions with the team at Stratus, I felt a genuine sense of connection, professionalism, and shared purpose. Everyone I spoke with was not only highly competent but also welcoming, collaborative, and clearly passionate about what they do. That kind of culture — where people support one another, communicate openly, and work toward a common goal — is something I deeply value.

What’s a standout success or milestone you’ve achieved since becoming an owner?

A standout milestone for me was hiring our first full-time employee. It marked a major turning point — not just in terms of growth, but in our commitment to building something sustainable. That step signified that we were no longer just getting started; we were establishing a foundation for long-term success and scalability.

How has Stratus shaped your professional growth or personal outlook?

Stratus has had a major impact on both my professional growth and personal outlook. It’s given me a clear, self-directed pathway to build something of my own while also providing the structure and support needed to succeed. That balance between independence and stability has been invaluable, helping me grow as both a leader and a business owner.

What’s one lesson you’ve learned on this journey that you wish you knew earlier?

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of identifying your professional weaknesses early on and hiring someone to fill those gaps as soon as possible. Delegating to the right people not only frees up your time but also brings in the expertise needed to help the business grow stronger and faster. Building a successful team around your strengths and weaknesses is one of the smartest and most effective decisions any business owner can make.

In your opinion, what makes Stratus different from other franchise systems?

What sets Stratus apart from other franchise systems is the level of support, transparency, and partnership it offers its franchise owners. From day one, the leadership team has been accessible, responsive, and genuinely invested in my success.

Another key difference is the proven, service-driven business model. Stratus provides a scalable structure that allows owners to operate with flexibility and autonomy while maintaining the integrity of a trusted national brand. It’s a system designed for long-term sustainability and real growth.

What qualities do you look for when bringing new franchisees into your team?

The top qualities I look for are a willingness to learn, a desire to grow, and a genuine commitment to being a business owner. You don’t need to have all the answers on day one, but having the right mindset is critical.

I look for people who are open to guidance, willing to put in the work, and eager to take ownership of their success. This business rewards consistency, accountability, and a long-term approach. If someone brings drive, openness, and persistence, they’re far more likely to succeed.

Who or what has been the biggest source of inspiration in your business journey?

The biggest source of inspiration in my business journey has been the autonomy and freedom that come with ownership. Having the ability to make my own decisions, shape the direction of the business, and take full responsibility for the outcomes has been incredibly motivating.

That sense of control over my future pushes me every day — it’s encouraged me to take on challenges I might have once avoided and invest deeply in building something meaningful. The freedom to create my own path has been not just inspiring, but truly empowering.

What would you say to someone who’s on the fence about becoming a Master Franchisee?

Go for it! If you’re serious about building something of your own and ready to take control of your future, this is an incredible opportunity. Becoming a Master Franchisee gives you the chance to run your own business with the support of a proven system behind you.

It takes work and commitment, but the rewards are real. The autonomy, the ability to scale, and the long-term stability make it absolutely worth the effort. If you’re willing to learn, lead, and grow, there’s no better time to take that step. I haven’t looked back — and I doubt you will either.
