Burnie comes from the telecommunications industry, and Michelle was a stay at home mom for a number of years. We wanted to find something that could withstand uncertain economic times while also serving as a vehicle to build a lasting legacy for our children. When we discovered Stratus, we saw the opportunity to do both.

What was the deciding factor in choosing Stratus over other opportunities?

We had looked at a number of franchise opportunities for about a year, and Stratus just made sense to us. The model was clear, the support was strong, and we immediately felt aligned with the company’s vision and values.

What’s a standout success or milestone you’ve achieved since becoming an owner?

Signing our first unit franchisee within just a couple of months of opening was an incredible feeling. Another major highlight was winning three proposals within a single week—it gave us the confidence and motivation to keep pushing forward.

How has Stratus shaped your professional growth or personal outlook?

This journey has taught us that we are capable of achieving anything we set our minds to. We’ve learned to embrace fear, step outside our comfort zone, and trust the process. Starting something like Stratus can be intimidating, and there are moments when you second guess yourself, but we’ve learned to push past uncertainty and keep going with faith and determination.

What’s one lesson you’ve learned on this journey that you wish you knew earlier?

We wish we had done this sooner. We’ve also learned not to second guess ourselves and to move forward with confidence. Taking that first leap of faith was the hardest part, but it’s also been the most rewarding.

In your opinion, what makes Stratus different from other franchise systems?

What we love most about Stratus is the network within the Master Franchise community. Everyone is so helpful and willing to share their experience and knowledge. You’re never alone in this journey—the collaboration and support make all the difference.

What qualities do you look for when bringing new franchisees into your team?

We look for individuals who are eager to grow and take their business to the next level. We want people who are excited about becoming a unit franchisee and who share the same enthusiasm and commitment to success that we do.

Who or what has been the biggest source of inspiration in your business journey?

Our fellow Master Franchisees have been our biggest source of inspiration. We’ve learned so much from their experiences, and we continue to feed off each other’s energy, ideas, and encouragement. It truly feels like a family.

What would you say to someone who’s on the fence about becoming a Master Franchisee?

Take the chance. It will be one of the most rewarding decisions you ever make. You’re not alone in this—you’ll meet incredible people, receive outstanding support, and be part of something that can change your life for the better. It’s absolutely worth it.
